A truly ancient base note Essential oil, a fraction of the legendary labdanum resin, used by all facets of society circling the Mediterranean, from Spanish shepherds to the highest priests in Egypt to Corsican midwives.

It expresses a deep, warm, resinous, balsamic, sweet, amber, powerful, leathery, diffusive, woody, ambergris, dry musk aroma that centers, comforts, composes, soothes fear and lifts depression, calms as it heightens awareness, supports Atmabala, holds the sensual, and stabilizes body, mind, and soul.  Revered in Judaism and is mentioned several times in the Bible, and is likely the mysterious onycha, an ingredient in the sacred scent ketoret also mentioned in the Torah.  In Egypt is was so highly prized that some feel the false beard worn by Osiris may have originally represented a "labdanum-laden goat's beard.” Cistus is a substitute for some of the most rare and precious oils including Ambergris, from sperm whales, and with Ambrette for true Musk from musk deer.
